Uruno, a wolf who is considered useless by his species, travels through the forest in search of a new home. Along the way, he encounters other animals who do not conform to their typical characteristics. In a brief altercation with Usahara, a bad-tempered rabbit, Uruno decides to move on. However, his plans change when he meets Chiiko, a clumsy cheetah girl. Love at first sight strikes Uruno, and he resolves to stay in the forest for her sake. Despite living with other unusual inhabitants of the forest, such as the smoking rabbit, the sake-drinking unicorn, the near-sighted eagle, the orca that cannot swim, and the shy pegasus, Uruno hopes to win Chiiko's affection someday.
