The story takes place at winford academy, located in helens hill, and focuses on knights and jousting. students at this school learn how to become knights and ride horses properly. the main character is takahiro mizuno, a young man who was training to be a knight and jouster but suffered an injury and dropped out of the program. he then joined the begleiter (assistant) program due to his animal handling skills and former experience as a jouster. many girls at the school want him to become their personal begleiter, but takahiro always refuses. one day, a strange accident causes mio kisaski to be challenged to a jousting duel despite not being a knight. takahiro agrees to temporarily assist her as her begleiter, which leads to the beginning of their partnership and eventually enrollment in the annual tournament.
