Hube, グリーセラ卿ゲーゲンヒューバー

Lord Gegenhuber Griesela (グリーセラ卿ゲーゲンヒューバー Guri-sera kyou ge-genhyu-ba-?) is Gwendal's cousin from his father's side. Years ago, Hubes bigotry and ambition led to many deaths, forcing Gwendal to banish him from the Demon Kingdom under the guise of searching for a lost artifact, the Great Demon Flute. Twenty years later, Yuri learns about Hube in Conansia Svelera (Suberera) through Nicola, who is bearing his child. Despite struggling to gather information about Hubes past, no one wants to discuss the terrible acts he committed. Even Conrad is content to watch him die. Eventually, Yuri forgives Hubes for unintentionally trying to kill him and begs Gwendal not to kill him. Although Gwendal initially agrees, Hube leaves for his own castle before telling Gwendal about a box he saw in Suberera. This incident left Hube without his left eye, suggesting that the box was one of the Four Forbidden Boxes. In the anime, Hubes swears loyalty to Yuri because Yuri spares his life despite his crimes. As such, Hubes would go to great lengths to protect Yuri, including leaving Nicola to fight against the possessed Original King.
