In the distant future, humanity has developed an extensive interstellar society. However, as time passes, people begin to feel disillusioned or hopeless due to repeated defeats and subjugation by external forces. Despite this widespread apathy, Herlock refuses surrender and leads a band of rebels on board his starship Arcadia to carry out audacious attacks against Earth's oppressors. The main threat to humanity comes from the Mazone, an alien species that originally explored Earth in ancient times and are now returning to reclaim it.

Uchuu Kaizoku Captain Herlock was published in Spanish by Glénat from October 2002 to June 2003, and later re-released by Norma Editorial in 2016. It has also been licensed in English as Captain Harlock: The Classic Collection by Seven Seas Entertainment.
