When people's cruelty overpowers their fear of death, there is little hope for those who wish to live righteously. Under the light of a full moon, a young boy witnesses the murder of the bandits who had enslaved him and is later given a new name by the man who saved him. This boy becomes known as Kenshin Himura, destined to become a swordsman. Despite his soft heart, he is determined to protect the innocent. The story of Rurouni Kenshin: Meiji Kenkaku Romantan - Tsuioku-hen explores the origins of the man who would later be called Hitokiri Battousai before he took an oath not to kill and gained his reputation as an assassin. His heart is torn between justice and corruption, while the fate of a nation hangs in the balance because of his actions.
