Magic File 2 was available for purchase at select retailers in Japan, including those branded as 7-11. Along with this release were previously released PPV episodes from the show. The first disc contained the Movie 12 Side-Story OVA, which provided additional information about Kudou Shinichi's backstory leading up to the upcoming movie. The second disc featured the PPV episodes.
