Yuuichirou Hikari's father, Nettos dad, has made a scientific discovery by introducing "synchro chips." When an operator and their navi are in a special environment called a "dimensional area," they can merge together in the real world through a technique called "cross fusion." During this process, Misaki Gorou, Yuuichirous first test subject, tried to fuse with his navi but unfortunately failed. Netto offered to attempt cross fusion with Rockman, but his dad forbade it. Cross Fusion puts an immense strain on the operators health and engaging in combat in the real world could result in death.
