The group consisting of Gintoki and his companions (who are essentially employees being exploited), Shinpachi and Kagura, reside in Edo, an alien-infested city in the future. They engage in any work they can find while avoiding dangerous situations. However, when their friend Katsura, a leader of Joui rebels and Gintoki's acquaintance, is brutally attacked by an unknown assassin, Shinpachi and Kagura begin investigating his whereabouts and the identity of the attacker. Meanwhile, Gintoki takes on a seemingly unrelated task: Tetsuya, a blacksmith, requests that he recover a powerful sword known as Benizakura, which was recently stolen. As both investigations converge, the Yorozuya group finds themselves entangled in a significant conspiracy involving the sinister nature of the Benizakura sword. Gintoki decides to confront the enemy directly and enlists the help of some unexpected allies for one of his most dangerous missions yet.
