McDull is not the most intelligent individual, but he consistently strives to do his best and please his mother. Despite her wishes for him to achieve greatness in life, McDull remains determined and never gives up. The narrative reflects on McDull's childhood through several tales that incorporate imaginative uses of Cantonese and local Hong Kong culture. These stories include a turkey dinner and dreams of following in Lee Lai-shan's footsteps, as McDull navigates the highs and lows of his demanding yet devoted mother.
The film won Best Animation Feature at the 39th Golden Horse Awards.
