During her first year of college, Hana Uzaki reconnects with Shinichi Sakurai, an older student who was a member of the same club as her in high school. However, to her surprise, he has become quite solitary and prefers spending his free time in peaceful solitude. Despite finding him annoying and tiresome, Uzaki tries to keep Sakurai from being alone by inviting him to do things like go to the movies or visit his part-time job. Although he finds her behavior irritating, Sakurai complies with Uzaki's antics, knowing that her bubbly personality will inevitably lead them into amusing situations. As time goes on, their relationship improves and people around them begin to misunderstand them as a romantic couple.
