The Daichis are facing a crisis that threatens to tear them apart. Seiko, the mother, is unhappy and obsessed with money, while Mamoru, the father, is weak-willed and uninvolved in household chores. Nozomi, their daughter, feels overwhelmed by everyone's expectations of her as the primary caregiver. Dai, the youngest member of the family, watches helplessly as everything falls apart. However, when the Galaxy Federation approaches them with an opportunity to fight against alien threats that threaten Earth's safety, they may have a chance to save themselves and the world.

Episode 12 has a re-edited part available on the DVD set of the series which references events from the alternative episode 11/episode 11.5, which too was available only on the DVD set of the series.
