Based on Kawai Katsutoshis manga of the same name, published in Weekly Shounen Sunday, Monkey Turn is an anime that revolves around professional speedboat racing. The protagonist of the series, Tadano Kenji, is too short to pursue his dream of becoming a professional baseball player, so his baseball coach suggests he try boat racing instead. One day, while unexpectedly meeting his old girlfriend, Tadano-san makes a promise with her: in exchange for her loyalty, he agrees to become Japan's best racer within three years. The "Monkey Turn" is the eponymous boat maneuver that Kenji came up with during his visit to his girlfriend and gives him an advantage over other boaters. However, it remains unclear whether this maneuver will be enough for him to achieve his goal of becoming Japan's best racer.
