After Makoto Naegi and his fellow survivors escaped Hopes Peak Academy to the world beyond, they joined an organization called Future Foundation that aimed to combat despair. However, just when things seemed to be looking up for them, Naegi was arrested and put on trial for betrayal because of defending a group of Remnants of Despair. While standing before the executives of Future Foundation, he faced an uncertain fate along with Kyouko Kirigiri and Aoi Asahina. The situation worsened when the organization's supposedly impenetrable security was hacked by someone familiar to Naegi: Monokuma, a mechanical bear who announced that a new killing game had begun. Moments later, the first victim appeared as a signal for despair to resume its brutal conquest. In conclusion, Danganronpa tells the story of Makoto Naegi, the Super High School-Level Lucky Student, who must once again solve the mystery and protect his friends and colleagues from being killed in a game that has no end until one participant dies.
