Despite attending the Royal Magic Academy in Wenias, Sable has the poorest grades among all students. He lacks recollections of his past before enrolling at the academy. When Headmaster Albus assigns a unique training program to Sable in the southern region, he readily agrees. Along with Roux Cristasse, Holt, an antlered human girl; and Kudd, a Beastfallen lizard, Sable must establish a witch village in an area where anti-witch sentiment remains high.
During their expedition, they steer clear of ex-members of the Dia Ignis Arbiters, a notorious group of witch hunters infamous for murdering witches and non-magical individuals alike. Although their organization was disbanded five years ago following the war between the Church and witches, some of its members persist and are prepared to capture any mages they encounter. Fortunately, Roux's Staff of Ludens, known as the "witch-eater," and Sable's inexhaustible reservoir of magic may enable them to fulfill their mission for Albus. If not, Sable risks losing his memories of magic and the academy, leaving him bereft of guidance towards the silver-haired mage who saved him initially.
