An endless sea of snow covers the earth, with people surviving by either clustering near giant trees on the ground or residing in the tree canopy that spans across the planet's atmosphere. a fortuitous encounter between kaina, a young woman from the treetops, and liliha, a youth from the surface, initiates a sequence of events that will alter the course of history for this world.
