A 14-year-old boy named Masaki Hinaoka enjoys morning runs with his corgi on a beach that's bathed in sunlight. During one such run, he notices a blond boy surfing and is impressed by his skills. Later, Masaki meets the surfer again as a new classmate named Shou Akitsuki. Shou is an accomplished surfer who has been passionate about the sport since childhood. Although Nalu Tanaka, Masakis best friend and a half-Hawaiian, enjoys surfing, Masaki hasn't shown any interest in it himself. However, after witnessing Shous impressive surfing style, Masaki decides to give it a try-even though he doesn't know how to swim. On his first attempt on the surfboard, Masaki demonstrates surprising balance and talent. With encouragement from Shou and Tanaka, Masaki enters a local competition and eventually becomes proficient in surfing. Despite this, there is a darker side to Shous personality that threatens to overshadow their friendship. Nevertheless, Masaki remains determined to become the best surfer he can be.
