As society progresses, individuals are increasingly disregarding the importance of being considerate towards nature. this has angered the spirits who feel that humans' self-centeredness is causing them great distress. however, among these spirits there exists a division of opinion where one faction completely opposes human beings while another seeks harmony between humans and ghosts. kitaro and his family fall into the latter group and are determined to foster understanding between people and spirits. their efforts involve striving for love and hope in their ongoing battles.
