Despite having graduated from high school, Tamami Sakurai remains as clumsy and awkward as she has always been. She often visits a local bar in Tokyo during the evenings as a way of unwinding from her demanding job. After consuming too many drinks, she feels invincible but suffers from hangovers the next day. On one such occasion, while under the influence of alcohol, Tamami hears familiar music playing on the record player, which brings back memories of Rin Kajitani, her closest friend from childhood.

Modern Love Tokyo: Kare ga Kanaderu Futari no Shirabe was released as part of Amazon Studios' Modern Love Tokyo anthology series. It is the only animated episode featured in the live-action series.
