Guts, a young mercenary who lost his mother at birth, finds survival on the battlefield as he embarks on one bloodshed after another. after encountering the band of the hawk, he is recruited by their leader griffith, also known as the "white hawk." with his strength and bravery, guts becomes a valuable member of the group, leading them to conquer midland. however, as the band continues on its quest for recognition, guts begins to question the morality of his actions and the world around him. this story takes place in the medieval era and follows one man's journey to find his own path while supporting another's thirst for power and the unforeseen consequences that arise from it.

Kenpuu Denki Berserk is the first anime adaptation of the long-running, ongoing seinen manga series published in the bi-weekly magazine Young Animal created by Kentaro Miura in 1989. While the story in the anime is fairly loyal to the source material, heavy modifications were made to exclude some of the more graphic depictions of violence, as well as characters and other content that could not be covered within the length of the anime’s running time. These changes were approved by the series creator himself.
