Dr. Haneda was developing a series of experimental giant robot warriors during World War II, but before they could be deployed, Allied bombs destroyed the facility and killed him. Ten years later, two surviving prototypes were discovered by criminals who used remote-controlled robots to commit crimes. Shotaro Haneda, the son of Dr. Haneda, investigated and found that the villains were searching for the most powerful robot in the series, Tetsujin-28. Along with Dr. Shikashima, a colleague of his father's who was also believed to have been killed by the Allied bombing, Shotaro discovered Tetsujin-28 and prevented it from falling into the wrong hands. They decided to dedicate the robot to peace instead of war.
Shotaro continued fighting crime with Dr. Shikashima's help, repairing Tetsujin-28 when necessary, and with police officer Otsuka by his side. Later in his career, Shotaro battled aliens from Magma who brought their own giant robots, Magma X and Gold Wolf, to Earth. Despite the challenges he faced, Shotaro remained committed to using his skills for good and protecting humanity.
