The film "Daddy Long Legs" is based on Jean Webster's novel of the same name. It follows Judy Abbott, an orphan living in New York City. During a meeting with important figures, including the superintendent, a scholarship is awarded to Judy by an anonymous benefactor. Although she only catches a glimpse of his tall shadow as he exits, Judy refers to him as "Daddy Long Legs" and writes letters to him monthly according to his request. While studying at Lincoln Memorial School, Judy befriends many people and learns about the world beyond what she had previously experienced.
