The plot of the anime revolves around Tsunehiro Sasaki, a college student who is deeply in debt and receives news from his doctor that he only has two years left to live. Feeling hopeless, he falls into depression until he is pursued by a debt collector and ends up in the sea. He is saved by Hana, a girl who enjoys fishing, and her friends including Takaaki. Hana encourages Tsunehiro to try fishing for the first time, which leads him to form friendships with other fishing enthusiasts. His fortunes improve when he lands a job at the convenience store where Hana and Takaaki work, and he becomes increasingly interested in fishing.
