A red-headed movie enthusiast named Joe is experiencing issues with his girlfriend Silvia. She feels that he takes her for granted and wants them to spend some quality time together, so Joe decides to take her to see an old action film featuring Captain Blue, his favorite hero. However, things quickly go awry when Silvia becomes trapped in the movie by Jado, the leader of a nefarious organization. Joe follows her into "Movieland" and is given a powerful device called a V-Watch by Captain Blue himself. With it, he transforms into Viewtiful Joe and embarks on a perilous journey to save his girlfriend from being used as a pawn in Jado's plan for world domination. Despite the challenges ahead, Joe remains determined to be both a hero and a loving partner to Silvia.

Viewtiful Joe is an adaptation of a video game of the same title created by CAPCOM.
