The protagonist is with friends, but they're not engaging him in a meaningful way. He often drifts off into his own thoughts and returns to them frequently. As a result, their conversation isn't flowing smoothly. During these moments of distraction, he finds himself increasingly disinterested in the topic at hand and more focused on developing relationships with others through dialogue. Eventually, he decides to rejoin the conversation.
