Although both schools are located near each other, they seem like different worlds. Kikyo Academy is known for its excellent reputation and attracts students from affluent backgrounds, while Chidori High School is often seen as a haven for delinquents. Many students at Kikyo harbor deep animosity towards their neighbors at Chidori. Rintarou Tsumugi is a 16-year-old student at Chidori who is often misunderstood due to his intimidating appearance. Despite this, he is content with his group of friends at school. However, there is something Rintarou hasn't shared with them yet - he helps out at his family's bakery. One day at work, Rintarou sees a customer at a table but she runs off before he can talk to her. The next day, he receives an apology from Kaoruko Waguri, who explains that she didn't run away because of his appearance but because she believed Rintarou was kind-hearted. Although Rintarou is not accustomed to Kaoruko's bright personality, he looks forward to forming a friendship with her. However, there is one obstacle standing in his way - Kaoruko is a student at Kikyo Academy!
