The "300 Inch Theater" at Tezuka Osamu World in Kyoto Station Bldg showcases original short animated films as well as a two-picture show featuring animated films from among Tezuka Osamus major Manga. One of the films focuses on historic episodes of Kyoto, and the Phoenix serves as the storyteller, introducing the stories to the audience.
In one of these stories, "Old Woman" ("Oba-chan"), Black Jack discusses the theme of how much love can grow in a short lifetime. The old woman is portrayed as greedy and always asking for money from her daughter-in-law. Her son and his wife become fed up with her behavior, leading to constant quarrels within the family. Despite their ordinary life appearing lost, Black Jack learns that the old woman had been paying for her young son's treatment for tens of years after he was dying at the time. The doctor claimed a great amount of money, and because of her love for her son, she devoted her entire life to paying for his treatment.
When the son comes to know the truth about his mother's actions, he is deeply impressed with her love. Black Jack asks him if he could love her just as much as she loved him. The Phoenix then tells a story about the move of the capital from Nara to Heian, which was a great national project aimed at infusing a city with eternal life.
