Akito is an individual who grew up watching anime called Gekiganger 3 and had a passion for mechas, but he would rather spend his time cooking than piloting them. His life takes a turn when his home on Mars gets destroyed, and he is transported to Earth. He has many unanswered questions, so he decides to follow a girl named Yurika, who is the captain of a private battleship called Nadesico. In order to do this, Akito enlists as their cook and uses his nanite implants to control mechas as a backup pilot for the ship's mechas. The crew of Nadesico consists of experts, otakus, and ditzes, but in reality, they are handpicked individuals who are determined to avenge Mars by taking their private war back to the planet.
