Train Heartnet, also known as Black Cat, is a renowned assassin who works for Chronos, a powerful secret organization. He has no qualms about taking lives and goes by the name "Black Cat" in the criminal underworld. One night, while on a job, he encounters Saya Minatsuki, an enigmatic bounty hunter. Despite their initial animosity towards each other, they develop an unlikely friendship due to Sayas positive outlook on life. This leads Train to question his own beliefs and values, causing him to abandon his role as Black Cat and become an honest bounty hunter. However, Chronos and particularly Creed Diskenth, Trains loyal underling, are not pleased with this sudden change of heart and threaten extreme measures to bring back the "emissary of bad luck." Ultimately, Train's newfound virtuous path is short-lived as he finds himself caught in a dangerous game once again.
