Simoun

In the tranquil society of Simulicram, all individuals are born female. At age 17, each young woman undergoes a unique ceremony where she selects her gender identity. However, only pairs of priestess maidens can synchronize with ancient flying vessels known as Simoun, which are crucial for defending Simulicram. These pairs refrain from the ceremony to continue piloting their Simoun.
Aer is selected to become a Simoun pilot following an attack by a hostile nation that devastated the Chor Tempest squadron. To earn her wings, Aer must navigate into Neviril's heart, who was once Regina of Chor Tempest and still harbors feelings for her previous pair, lost in battle while attempting a prohibited Simoun maneuver.
A video game based on Simoun titled Simoun Ibara Sensou: Fuuin no Ri Maajon was developed by Marvelous Entertainment and released for the PlayStation 2 in 2007.
