The anime series "Ranma ½" revolves around a gifted martial artist named Ranma Saotome from the "Anything-Goes" school of martial arts. During his training in China, he and his father meet an unfortunate end when they fall into a cursed spring that turns them into girls whenever splashed with cold water. To break the curse, only hot water can turn them back to their original gender.
The plot thickens as Ranma discovers that his father has arranged for him to marry one of Soun Tendos three daughters in order to secure the future of the Tendo dojo. Despite learning about Ranmas predicament, Soun remains resolute and selects Akane, a skilled martial artist who is notorious for her hatred towards men, as his bride-to-be.
"Ranma ½" follows the amusing escapades of Ranma and Akane as they encounter various adversaries, meet new romantic interests, and continually find ways to make each other angry, all while their impending marriage looms over them.
The 2011 live-action adaptation is produced by Nippon Television and is directed by Ryo Nishimura.
