The Ganymede System's Doron Empire discovered Earth as a potential target for expansion due to its suitability for conquest. This interest emerged from the ambitions of General Ozmel, who overthrew Queen Medusa and initiated their universal domination plan. With Earth on the brink of destruction, only one scientist, Dr. Shikishima, saw hope in saving it from alien invaders - a massive mecha known as Mechander Robo, specially designed to combat these extraterrestrial foes. To pilot this powerful machine, Dr. Shikishima enlisted the help of three individuals: Jimmy Orion, Ryosuke Shikishima (the scientist's son), and Kojiro Hachijima. While Earth's primary struggle involves battling the Doron Empire, there is a connection between lead pilot Jimmy Orion's past and the overall narrative.
