Koizumi Risa and Ootani Atsushi are both high school students who are searching for their ideal partners. However, their heights differ significantly from the average-Koizumi is 172 cm tall while Ootani is only 156 cm. Their crushes also fall in love with each other, causing them to feel flustered and heartbroken. To make matters worse, they are labeled as a comedy duo by their homeroom teacher due to their personalities and height difference. Additionally, their classmates think of their arguments as sketches. Despite these challenges, Lovely★Complex follows Koizumi and Ootani as they support each other in finding love and become close friends. While their behavior is often comical, they discover an unexpected similarity in their music and fashion tastes. Could there be a chemistry between the mismatched pair that could lead to love?

The North American distribution company Discotek released a Blu-ray for the series on January 30th, 2024, which was also the first time the series was dubbed in English.
