In an alternate future, the field of robotics experiences rapid growth globally by 2050. By this time, Japan has emerged as the world leader in robotic technology and manufacturing with Daiwa Heavy Industries. As technology advances to incorporate human body enhancements, a shift in public opinion occurs due to the blurring lines between man and machine. In response, the U.N. passes a law banning further research and development of robotics in 2067. Despite Japan's objections, this ban is enforced, leading to Japan withdrawing from international politics and pursuing high-tech national isolation for ten years.
Ten years later, strange events prompt the technology enforcement agency SWORD to suspect that Japan has been secretly developing banned technologies through its RACE network. They send a team of special agents to infiltrate Japan and gather intel on their activities. Vexille, one of the group members, uncovers a horrifying truth about the decade-long isolation: Japan's actions were driven by a desire for technological superiority, even if it meant sacrificing human lives and ethics.
