In 1877, Kyoto was experiencing a sense of gloom because its status as capital had been moved to Tokyo. Despite this, Genzo Shimadzu Sr. continued his research with the goal of launching a light balloon requested by the prefecture of Kyoto. After witnessing the balloon take flight, the protagonist hopes to link Genzo's past passion with his present aspirations and extend them into the future.
