Tokidoki Rikugou is a student who fails his Japanese History course and is forced by his school to attend a museum lecture as part of his make-up work. The museum's star exhibit, an Edo Period recreation, promises to improve his grades through an elaborate simulation of the Tokugawa Shogunate: the Edo Bakumatsu Walking Tour and Exhibition. Despite having little knowledge of samurai culture or the era he is in, Tokidoki is quickly surprised by the superstitious beliefs that pervaded Japan during this time period. He dismisses the existence of gods and demons but is shocked when confronted with a demon on a bridge who attacks him. Fortunately, he is saved by Kuchiha, a mysterious swordsman, and discovers that he cannot escape the simulation at the museum. Later, Tokidoki meets another swordsman named Kon Shinonome, who was also trapped in the simulation before him. Now, Tokidoki must protect the village from demons while uncovering the mystery behind the simulation and the company responsible for creating it.
