After being away for seven years, saku ooyagi returns to his hometown and meets up with his childhood friend, mihoshi akeno. although they haven't seen each other in a long time, they quickly catch up. however, their reunion is not entirely happy since the last memory they have of each other is of her falling off a tree and him saving her. despite this, mihoshi is determined to improve their relationship and convinces saku to join the astronomy club she founded.
