A young girl named Mirai Onozawa feels unhappy about her home life and wishes for everything to fall apart. Unfortunately, that wish comes true when a massive 8.0 earthquake hits just moments later. During summer vacation, Mirai takes her brother Yuuki to Odaiba for a robot exhibition he wanted to see. However, while they are there, a major earthquake strikes the Kanto region, leaving them helpless witnesses to its devastating power. After the earthquake, they meet Mari Kusakabe, a single mother who decides to help them return home. The group embarks on a long journey through the destroyed city in hopes of reuniting with their families.
