In a remote village in southern Japan during World War II, there was a perception that Americans and British people were "brutes" due to the losses among the villagers' relatives. An elementary schoolgirl named Eiko moved from Yokohama to this village. Since she had blue eyes from her American father, her classmates bullied her without restraint. Even her teachers viewed her similarly. However, a boy named Kenta saw Eiko with curiosity rather than hostility. The children's lives changed when the injured father of one of Kenta's classmates returned from the battlefield and news of more casualties arrived in the village.
