As part of a triple feature of animated films based on takara properties, "transformers: more than meets the eye" was released theatrically. the other two short movies featured were "super doll licca-chan" and "microman". however, because it came out later than the pioneers japanese dvd box set of beast wars metals, this episode was not included in that particular collection.
