A young man named mito yamamoto was very attractive, which caused many women to flock to the restaurant where he worked. when the owner decided that he had enough of him, he fired mito, leaving him without employment and no place to call home. soon after, mito stumbled upon a cafe and cut his hand on some broken glass. a man named ruka saotome approached him to tend to the injury, but instead of helping, he licked away mito's blood and remarked that it tasted disgusting before asking mito to leave. that night, while trying to find shelter, mito accidentally fell off a building and was caught by ruka. after revealing himself as a vampire, ruka explained that men's blood tastes disgusting, especially the blood of someone who is unloved. since he couldn't drink from girls, ruka had been searching for an attractive boy to become his thrall. he proposed that mito fill this role and allow ruka's affections to "ripen" his blood. mito agreed and moved in with ruka at the hijirigaoka boys academy dormitory. however, there was one problem: mito was actually a girl!
