Second Lieutenant Kei Agemaki, who comes from a family of renowned generals, has concealed his intense fear of supernatural entities throughout his life. However, when he and two others are relocated to collaborate with youkai in the Ministry of Spirit Affairs, he encounters his greatest dread head-on. With the aid of the fox spirit Kushimatsu, Kei and his comrades must learn how to cooperate alongside Zakuro, Susukihotaru, Hoozuki, and Bonbori-youkai maidens-to tackle paranormal cases. This series, Otome Youkai Zakuro, takes place in an alternate version of Japanese Westernization, where the collision of cultures and traditions creates both conflicts and unions among men and women. The unique partnership between human officers and youkai maidens must adapt to a world that is undergoing rapid change.
