Hotori arashiyama is fascinated by mysteries but struggles with one in particular. she can't solve why solving a problem often leads to another. for instance, when she needs to work at the seaside maid cafe after school to pay off her debt and toshiko happens to know how to run it, hotori is relieved since she has no idea. however, toshiko isn't interested in working there until she discovers that hiroyuki, a regular customer, is also a childhood friend of hotori. this seems fortunate at first but then reveals more complex feelings among the characters. in addition to this drama, hotori faces challenges such as dealing with an unpleasant math teacher and engaging in table tennis competitions with her classmates. her younger brother's rivalry with the school's bad girl also adds tension to her life. despite these difficulties, somehow hotori manages to keep moving forward in a hilarious manner.
