Mikio returns to his hometown after being away for six months. The first thing he notices upon arrival is a traditional Japanese onsen inn run by Yukino Chitose, an old friend and former lover. Despite the passage of time, Chitose still exudes youthfulness. However, her traditional attire gives off an air of maturity and elegance. After finishing his business, Mikio searches for Chitose and hears her voice leading him to an outdoor bath. Peering through a crack in the bamboo fence, he is shocked to see her with another man.
