Tony Stark, a CEO of a weapons manufacturer and inventor, was injured by shrapnel from one of his own creations while being held captive by terrorists. He then developed the Iron Man Suit and escaped. Since then, he has pledged to use his second chance at life to improve the world. Stark traveled to Japan where a unique power station called Arc Station was being developed without using fossil fuels. He intended to join this project and retire as Iron Man, announcing the mass production of Iron Men to continue his duties. However, during the ceremony, he was attacked by combat mecha from an organization known as Zodiac.
