According to legend, there were once two evil spirits imprisoned within the Calabash Mountains: one was a Scorpion spirit and the other a Snake spirit. However, after many years have passed, an unfortunate incident occurred when a pangolin accidentally drilled through the mountains and released these demons. While hiking on nearby mountains, an elderly man stumbled upon a cave where he encountered the escaped pangolin. The pangolin informed him of the legend of seven calabashes that could save their land from destruction. Realizing what needed to be done, the old man obtained the legendary seed of the calabash plant and used it to defeat the demons. As each calabash matured, it transformed into a child with unique abilities. The seven brothers set out on a quest to vanquish the demons in a 13-episode series. In a sequel, it was revealed that there had been a third demon - specifically, the sister of the Snake spirit - who had remained hidden underground during the entire battle. The only survivor from the defeat of the two demons was a humanoid toad with one blind eye. Desperate for news, he reported the events to the remaining calabash brothers. Enraged by the loss of their siblings, the demon attacked the mountain where the seven brothers resided in order to seek revenge.
