In 2808, three criminals were enlisted as members of the Cyber Police in Oedo (formerly Tokyo) with the objective of controlling major criminal activities. As a reward for each successful mission accomplished, they would have their life sentences reduced by several years. However, to ensure that these convicts performed their duties effectively, the police fitted them with special collars around their necks. If they tried to remove their collars or failed to meet the deadline of their assignment, the collars would automatically self-destruct.
