Sekai no Hikari: Shinran Seijin, 世界の光 親鸞聖人

When young Matsuwakamaru loses both his father and mother at a very early age, he becomes puzzled about where people go after they die. He wonders if there is any way to escape the cycle of heaven, hell, and rebirth that he has heard about. Driven by his desire for knowledge, Matsuwakamaru decides to join a Buddhist monastery on Mount Hiei at the age of 9. There, he changes his name to Shinran and begins his journey towards enlightenment. Eventually, Shinran would go on to found the Joudo Shinshuu sect of Buddhism, which opened the doors to a new way of understanding the afterlife for many people.
