Nanami momozono is a high school student facing numerous challenges. her father's extreme debt has led them to lose everything, leaving them homeless. while helping a man being harassed by a dog, she meets the land god of a shrine named mikage. grateful for her help, he offers her his home, but it turns out to be a rundown shrine. nanami tries to leave, but is caught by two shrine spirits and tomome, a fox familiar. they mistake her for mikage and try to make her serve as the new land god. realizing she was sent there as a replacement, tomoe abruptly leaves, refusing to serve a human. instead of going back to being homeless, nanami embraces her divine duties and seeks out tomome's help. however, things get complicated when she lands in trouble and seals a contract with him. now they must navigate the challenges of godhood together, including threats from a youkai who wants to eat her and a snake that wants to marry her, as well as nanami's unexpected feelings for tomome.
