Shuichi's dream was always to become a pop idol like Ryuichi Sakuma of the band Nittle Grasper. Along with his best friend Hiro, they formed their own band called Bad Luck and got signed to a major recording label. However, as the studio deadlines approached, Shuichi struggled to finish writing lyrics for any songs. He was in need of inspiration but had been running low lately. While Hiro suggested finding a girlfriend, fate took a different turn when Shuichi's latest lyrics landed at the feet of a beautiful stranger while walking through the park one night. Unfortunately, this mysterious stranger turned out to be the famous novelist Eiri Yuki, who crushed Shuichi's confidence by telling him he had "zero talent." Despite his anger, Shuichi managed to finish writing his song and was determined to confront Yuki once again. However, it is unclear whether his actions were truly motivated by anger or if he had fallen in love with the novelist.
Gravitation follows the manga adaptation closely with only minor differences and is less explicit than the original manga.
