Hajime Ichinoses mundane existence will be transformed when J.J Robinson, a transcendent being, gives her a small device called NOTE which turns her into one of the legendary protectors known as Gatchaman. It's crucial to keep their existence hidden from others. Sugane Tachibana, another Gatchaman, takes Hajime to their base where Paiman, the panda-like alien leader, explains their mission: protecting humanity against dangerous extraterrestrial threats called MESS that are causing widespread destruction. Now it's up to them and their new recruit to prevent global chaos.

The North American release of the Gatchaman Crowds anime series does not contain the directors cut of episode 12, which remains exclusive to Japan.
